Arctic monkeys

1) How do audiences generally watch music videos these days?
I would say that most audiences watch music videos with their eyes.
2) What opportunities has the growth of digital technology and YouTube created for new music artists?
Platforms like YouTube and spotify have helped music artists drastically as it has raised the rate of marketing higher than ever!
3) What is P2P and why did it cause huge problems for the music industry?

Its a way of distributing music illegally(AKA pirating) and shares out music Free Of Charge. And has made an impact on the artists because they are loosing their money.
4) Do you think the internet has given audiences more power over who becomes successful in the music industry? Why?
I feel like the internet has not changed any ranks of superiority as the audience has always had power over the artist. The reason that i feel this way is because for example if a majority dose not like a specific video, they could stop listening which in other words is equivalent to having a dog on a leash
5) How has Fortnite demonstrated the potential future for music videos and promotional opportunities for the music industry? You can read more on this event in this Verge feature

I feel like fortnite is very beneficial for music artists and will help them even more in the future. The reason that I have said this is because if we take the DJ marshmello, We can see that his subscriber count has increased massively and so did his viewer count and the time that marshmello had reached his peak was during the week tat the fortnite concert had been released. And if you would think that this was just coincidental, it was not. This is because recently, There had been another fortnite live concert with a famous music artist called Travis Scott. Not to mention that the view count of the total people watching his performance was a shocking.I Enzo have done my research and have found that over forty million people have seen his concert and after that over 12 million people subscribed to his YouTube channel!

Arctic Monkeys: Industry

1) How did the Arctic Monkeys first achieve success and build up their fanbase?

They actually started sharing their songs on My-Space and then began to spread it even more with online chatroom's.

2) Why was P2P file sharing an unexpected aspect to Arctic Monkeys' early success?
Because they use to share their music through Cd's and peolple were burning their CD's and pirating it for money or for free.3) How does the rise of Arctic Monkeys differ from how One Direction were formed and became famous?
One direction were made intentionally by Simon Cowell whereas Arctic Monkey were a band that started themselves of on a niche music company4) How has technological convergence changed the music industry?
The change in digital technology has been the main cause for this as it now enables audiences to access music in different formats (mp3 downloads), which can be downloaded straight onto the computer

5) Has the internet been a positive or negative development for traditional record companies? Why?
Negative because now no one wants to buy CD's as they can access it quicker online

Arctic Monkeys: Audience

1) What is the main Arctic Monkeys audience - demographics and psychographics?

Arctic Monkeys clearly have an audience with NME readers. Although the circulation of the magazine has fallen in recent years
2) What audience pleasures are offered by the music video for I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor?

diversion as they distracted from their lives and watching a music video (which seems like a live performance) in their free time.
3) Pick out three particular shots, scenes or moments in the video that would particularly appeal to Arctic Monkeys fans. Why did you choose those moments?

-the cameras in the background are used to give it a raw vibe
-colour scheme, coloured lighting to look like a live performance for a TV show.
-their movements aren't very fluid, there's no sense of choreography of any kind

4) What is nostalgia and why is it a key audience pleasure for the Arctic Monkeys music video?

?
5) How are fans positioned to respond to the video? What does the artist want fans to take from their video?

The only people in the video other than the Arctic Monkeys are assumed to be the producers and people helping out.
