essay

agree to this statement with a minor extent, one reason I think this is because if you take YouTube for example, and you go onto a big you tubers YouTube channel, you will see that usually, if there is music, it would be an unknown or unpopular song as YouTube would take down the video of the prosumer if it was a popular song more than an unpopular one, therefore, showing the superiority of which the industry (in this case YouTube) has compared to the audience. However, my opinion changes if we move onto Netflix. This is because in my opinion I feel that the consumers/audience have more advantages than disadvantages. For example they can watch a variety of shows, movies and documentary’s, they have the opportunity to pause or resume of what they are watching which could be very useful towards the audience, and I have many more advantages in mind, so this comes to show of how in some companies the producers have more power and advantages than the consumer but in others, the roles can be switched. One huge joker that the audience has regarding power is illegal downloading (aka pirating) which is applicable towards the music  and film/ TV industry. The reason I am stating this big disadvantage towards the producers is because if consumers are pirating and getting the product for free, this then means that they are no longer paying the big companies/ owners the subscriptions needed to watch or listen to the product therefore putting those companies out of business or out of money. So now as we just heard of that, I think that we can guarantee that for TV and films the consumers have the advantage but even though that in the music industry people also have pirating software's, the main producer/ singer and or DJ could show their superiority in power and just stop their music as  they were not making a huge amount of profit in the first place and also therefore leaving the pirating fans to mourn. In another form, if we investigate this theory that the producer has superiority in power deeper, we will be able to find more facts that build on that point. The reason I think this is because if you take a close look to big companies like Disney, they have billions if not trillions and they own many different companies worldwide! Also, if that wasn't enough, if we (the consumers) manage to take down one of Disney’s documentary/ movie/ show (a really low chance) or if the audience stops watching it because they don't like it much anymore, it really wouldn't be a problem for Disney as they could just take down the non-liked show/ movie/ documentary (or keep it up if they wish) as Disney one of the biggest or if not the biggest companies would surely have some backup shows, movies or documentaries with the amount of  big companies of which they own! So, in conclusion I find that in some cases in film and TV, that the audience has more power but in other ways, the producer has more power which I feel is the case. Now, focusing more on the music industry again, I feel that in majority, the fans would have more power, this is because as I previously stated, pirating and also if the fans don’t necessarily like the song that the artist produced they might not listen to it therefore  reducing the income of the artist(unless like the example i gave with Disney, they could have back up songs), this also might pressurise the artist as they would need to put themselves in the audiences’ shoes and be able to produce songs of which the audience could relate to and like. So, I feel like it is a pretty obvious choice of which has the most power (the consumer). However, those two subjects were pretty easy to cover but what if I told you that now there is something almost unheard of to the kids of this generation and something that has in terms of audience dropped from 7.4 million to just over 7 million viewers from 2014 to 2015 and has dropped an unimaginable amount between then and now! I am not too sure upon newspapers as it is from a previous generation but based on my knowledge, I feel that they both have an equal amount of power. Although, thinking deeper into this, I think that the newspaper producers might just have more power than the audience. The reason of which I think this is because the ideas of news papers could relate to the hypodermic needle theory (the idea of which the media is brainwashing you). A way that these two can relate could be by fake news, my evidence to support this point is from in 1932 when the news said that there was going to be an alien invasion and it was so believable that the state of which the “alien invasion” took place had to be evacuated and some of the biggest military forces were called in ready to engage in combat with these extra-terrestrial space monsters and it ended up all being a joke as the journalists called it. The reason I brought this up was so that I could give you a chance to see how we consumers can be easily controlled by the media because what if it was some sort of theft group who made us feel the need to evacuate and ended up robbing us all. So, for the news, I feel that they have no doubt more power over us and over powerful forces. Before I conclude this essay, I also feel the need to say that now most big companies have overpowered many governments and states and could pretty much use us as their slaves. That was all that I felt the producers overpower the consumers by quiet a bit and have us on leashes.
Thank you for reading and listening  to my opinion and so in a total
summary, I find that the producers may have a significant amount more power than us.

Yours sincerely,
